Section 10 - Arm Strength Test - Vertical - Static

This test is used to evaluate the strength of the arms due to vertical forces. The test applies to samples with arm height less than 38 in. from the floor. The sample will be secured without inhibiting movement of the arms. If the sample has two arms, both arms will be tested. A 5 in. loading device at least the width of the arm will be attached to apply a vertical force. Each arm will be tested for two loads with each force applied for one minute. For arm widths less than 3 in. across, a load of 169 lb. will be applied. For arms greater than 3 in. across, a load of 200 lb. will be applied. In the same order, a load of 253 lb. will be applied if less than 3 in. or a load of 300 lb. if greater than 3 inches.
