Section 16 - Leg Strength Test - Front and Side Application

This test is used to evaluate the strength of a leg due to horizontal forces being exerted on the leg. This test applies to samples without pedestal bases. For the front application, a 1 inch loading fixture will apply a force of 75 lb. and then a force of 113 lb. to each front leg. A force equal to the weight of the sample will be applied instead of the 113 lb. if the weight of the sample exceeds 113 lb. Each force will be applied for one minute. For the side load application, the same principles apply as the front load application except each force will be applied to a front and back leg separately.
